Workit Health vs. Rehab
Rehab
Access from anywhere
Receive care through our app from anywhere in your state—no need to travel, take PTO, or arrange childcare. Our 100% online treatment makes evidence-based addiction care available to individuals in rural communities, cities without public transportation, and places with few in-person rehabs and providers.
Affordable
Workit Health's programs are about 1/10th the cost of residential rehab (made possible by the fact that our virtual program doesn't include expenses like housing, food, or facility maintenance).
Harm reduction-based
Workit Health is grounded in harm reduction. We support all recovery goals and celebrate safer steps forward. That's why we offer medication and why we don't punish or remove people who go off course or test positive for substances.
While there are harm-reduction-based rehabs and detox programs, it is also common for these programs to encourage and enforce total abstinence after a rapid taper, which can increase likelihood of overdose.
Medication
Study after study illustrates that people who take medication for alcohol or opioid use disorder increase their likelihood of long-term recovery and lower their risk of overdose. That’s why the medical community and governmental agencies endorse medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Workit Health providers can and do prescribe medications like Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) and naltrexone as appropriate to support recovery.
Some residential programs do include MAT, but many do not. And of those that do, it is common for medication to be used only as a short-term detox aid, rather than as a part of a stable recovery program.
Free at-home drug screening
Urine drug screens are an important tool in treating opioid use disorder, helping your care team to confirm that you're taking your medication correctly and to better understand your health needs. At Workit Health, drug screens are mailed discreetly to your home, and you complete them every month through our unique Video Drug Screening and Automated Drug Screening options.
At residential treatment programs, there will be more in-person oversight of your drug screens, which can feel invasice at times.
Flexibility in scheduling
Workit Health members can schedule appointments and join online recovery groups at times that fit their daily lives (rather than adhering to a facility’s strict schedule).
Science- and evidence-based treatment
Science- and evidence-based treatment refers to treatment that is supported by research. This includes several kinds of therapuetic interventions as well as medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and assessments.
A 2020 analysis of national providers found that half or fewer facilities offered medications for opioid use disorder or perform mental health assessments.
Workit Health's programs include MAT and regular assessments, as well as behavioral health support (in group appointments, recovery groups, and courses) that incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and family systems therapy, all of which are backed by extensive research.
