  • Insurance & Cost

Treatment that fits your budget. Check your coverage for free

With insurance, most members pay $25 to $35 per month out of pocket. If we’re not in-network with your plan, our affordable self-pay option keeps the door open. Either way, you confirm your coverage in the app.

with insurance

$25–$35

Typical out-of-pocket cost across most major commercial plans, including many Medicaid plans in eligible states.

  • Visits with your prescribing clinician
  • Care team support and messaging
  • Medication management (prescriptions sent to your pharmacy)
  • Guided recovery groups and peer support
  • Assistance with most labs and prior authorizations
Your exact cost depends on your specific plan. Check with your insurance provider to learn what they cover. Confirm your coverage in the app—it takes about a minute. Medication costs are billed separately through your pharmacy.

Self-Pay

$300 a month

A flat-rate, self-pay option if we’re not in-network with your insurance, you don’t have insurance, or you prefer to pay out of pocket for privacy.

  • Same clinical visits and care team
  • Same medication management
  • Same recovery groups and peer support
  • HSA- and FSA-eligible
  • Cancel any time, no contracts
Predictable monthly rate. Medication costs are billed separately through your pharmacy.

How it works

You don't have to know if you're covered to start

Coverage verification happens inside the app during signup, not before. Enter your info once, and we’ll handle the rest. If we’re not in-network, we’ll let you know. Self-pay can keep your recovery moving.

1. Download the app

The Workit Health app is free to download. No credit card or insurance info required to start the intake.

  • 30 seconds

2. Confirm coverage in-flow

Enter your insurance details (or pick self-pay). We verify your benefits in the background—no calls, no waiting on hold.

  • ~1 minute

3. Book your first visit

Have a video visit with your clinician, usually within 2 days. Medication can be prescribed at that visit if appropriate.

  • 2 Days

What we accept

We work with most major plans

Coverage varies by state and plan. Rather than asking you to scan a list, we built verification into our app so you get a real, plan-specific answer in about a minute.

Most major commercial plans, plus Medicaid and Medicare in select states

If you have insurance, there’s a good chance we take it. Confirm yours when you start the app.

  • Major commercial PPO, HMO, and EPO plans
  • Most employer-sponsored plans (verified at signup)
  • Medicaid managed care plans in eligible states
  • Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans in select states
  • Affordable self-pay if your plan isn't in-network

Coverage and in-network status vary by state and individual plan. The most reliable way to confirm whether your specific plan is covered is to start the app—we’ll verify your benefits in real time, no phone call required.

If we're not in-network with your plan

You still have a path

Insurance shouldn’t be the reason you don’t get treatment. If we’re not in-network with your plan today, here’s what happens next:

Self-pay is real, transparent, and HSA/FSA-eligible

$300/month covers the same clinical care, with the same team, on the same timeline. No phone call required to switch.

We'll keep you posted as our coverage expands

If you start signing up in the app and find that we're not in-network with your plan yet, we keep your info on file. When we add your plan or expand to your state, we'll let you know.

What you get for that price

Everything addiction treatment is supposed to include

Telehealth addiction treatment sometimes consists of just a clinician visit and a prescription. Workit Health is a full treatment program that includes online clinician visits, prescriptions sent to your pharmacy, care team support, and community connections—for the same monthly cost.

👩‍⚕️ Clinician visits

Video appointments with a licensed prescriber on your schedule. Follow-up appointments combine care from your clinician and a member of the behavioral health team with peer support from fellow members.

💊 Medication management

Suboxone, naltrexone, acamprosate, and more—prescribed as appropriate and managed by your team. Note that medication costs are billed separately through your pharmacy.

💬 Care team messaging

Direct in-app messaging with your care team, with ~1-minute response times during business hours.

🤝 Recovery groups

Guided recovery groups take place online. Develop coping tools, process your thoughts and feelings, and connect with others who get it.

📋 Prior authorizations handled

If your insurance requires prior authorization for medication, the Medical Assistants on our team handles it on your behalf.

🧪 Drug screening included

Routine drug screenings at no additional charge. We'll ship drug screens discreetly to you, so you can submit them through our app. We do not punish members for testing positive.

A few practical details

Things people ask about before they sign up

HSA- and FSA-eligible

Workit Health visits and most medication costs qualify for HSA and FSA reimbursement. We provide receipts and superbills you can submit.

Your employer doesn't see anything

HIPAA protects your records. Your employer never sees your diagnosis, medication, or treatment details—even if your insurance is through your job.

No referral needed (almost always)

Most plans don't require a primary care referral for addiction treatment. The few that do are flagged during signup, and we help with the referral.

Mental health parity protects you

Federal law requires most plans to cover addiction treatment on equal terms with other medical care. In practice, that means strong coverage on most plans.

Lose your coverage? Keep your care

If you lose insurance during treatment, you can switch to self-pay without an interruption. We never stop care because of a coverage change.

Cancel any time

No contracts, no commitment. You can pause or cancel from inside the app whenever you need to.

Insurance & cost FAQ

Common questions

If you’ve been searching for a clear answer on insurance, this section is for you.

How do I check if my insurance covers Workit Health?

Coverage verification happens inside the Workit Health app during signup. You enter your insurance info, and we confirm your benefits, usually in about a minute. You don’t have to know whether you’re covered before you start; the app handles it as part of the intake flow. No phone calls, no paperwork.

What insurance plans does Workit Health accept?

We accept most major commercial insurance plans, including many Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, and Humana plans, as well as Medicaid and Medicare in select states. Coverage varies by state and specific plan, so the fastest way to confirm yours is to download the app and start the signup process. The verification is built into intake—it takes about a minute. We do not charge you during coverage verification.

What if Workit Health doesn't take my insurance?

We offer self-pay at $300/month so cost doesn’t have to block treatment. If you start signing up in the app and find that we’re not in-network with your plan yet, you can still get the same care via self-pay. We’ll keep your info on file and let you know if your coverage changes or if we add your plan in the future.

How much does Workit Health cost without insurance?

Self-pay is $300 per month. This includes clinician visits, medication management, care team support, recovery groups, and drug screening. Medication costs (the price of picking up the medicine itself) are billed separately through your pharmacy. Prescription discount programs may apply, so be sure to ask your pharmacy about them. Self-pay is HSA- and FSA-eligible.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Workit Health visits and most medication costs are eligible for HSA and FSA reimbursement, since this is medical care for a diagnosed condition. We provide receipts and superbills that you can submit to your account administrator.

Will my employer find out I'm in treatment?

No. Your health information is HIPAA-protected. This means that your employer doesn’t see your medical claims without your explicit permission. We submit your insurance claims under your medical benefits the same way any other healthcare visit would be. Your employer never receives your diagnosis or treatment details, even when insurance is through them.

Will my insurance also cover the medication?

In most cases, yes. Suboxone, naltrexone, acamprosate, and the other medications we prescribe are typically covered under your prescription benefits. Some plans require prior authorization. Our care team handles those for you so you don’t have to navigate it alone.

What if I lose my insurance during treatment?

You can switch to self-pay without interrupting care. We never stop treatment because of a coverage change. If you lose or change your insurance, talk to your care team, and we’ll handle the transition. If your situation changes again later, you can switch back.

Is treatment covered the same as any other healthcare visit?

Under federal mental health parity law, addiction treatment is required to be covered by most plans on equal terms with other medical care. In practice, this means most insurance plans cover Workit Health visits the same way they cover any specialist—same copays, same deductibles, same coverage rules.

Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor?

Almost never. Most plans don’t require a referral for addiction treatment. The few that do—generally certain HMO plans—will be flagged during signup. We can usually work with your PCP to get the referral quickly, so you don’t have to delay starting care.
