Addiction treatment that works for Miamians

Miami has an unfortunate reputation for being central to the drug trade, complete with the nickname “Vice City.” This reputation can’t be dismissed as just lingering drama from the 70s and 80s,  as there is still a dangerous prevalence of drugs in Miami today. In 2020, Miami-Dade county experienced 472 reported fatal overdose deaths from opioids. During that time, an additional 2,952 overdoses were non-fatal, with many of those only saved by the rescue medicine naloxone. Rescue medication can be life-saving, but it doesn’t get to the root of the problem: addiction itself. People in Miami who struggle with opioids and other drugs deserve effective help. That’s why Workit Health brings accessible, evidence-backed addiction treatment to Miamians who want to take their lives back from alcohol and opioids.

Workit Health’s experienced, expert clinicians can prescribe FDA-approved medications, including Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) and naltrexone, to reduce your cravings and assist you toward long-term recovery. Our program provides nonjudgmental, science-backed behavioral health support to help you achieve your recovery goals—no matter what they are. With Workit’s telemedicine program, you have access to all this support and more from the privacy and comfort of home. (One in-person appointment may be required.)

About 8,000 Floridians die of fentanyl overdoses each year, many of them from unknowingly taking other drugs that had been adulterated with fentanyl.  Despite this, Florida legislators have refused to decriminalize fentanyl-testing strips. With harm reduction measures like this being denied, treatment that works is more vital than ever.  That’s what Workit offers. No matter where you live in Miami, you can access gold-standard care from home with our in-app medical appointments, courses, and recovery groups. Get started with Workit Health’s virtual program in just a few minutes, and same-week appointments are often available. You don’t have to do this alone.

Have questions? We have answers

Workit Health affiliated providers offer clinical care for substance use in Miami and across the state. Here’s how it works:

1) Complete our onboarding in just a few minutes by downloading the Workit Health app. During this step, we’ll verify your insurance or give you pricing information.

2) Schedule an appointment with your care team. Your first appointment will be an orientation to show you how the program works.

3) Order drug tests. Our drug testing process is 100% virtual and simple, and drug tests are shipped to you at no extra cost. In certain states, you must take a drug test before you can receive buprenorphine medications like Suboxone.

4) Video chat with a nonjudgmental clinician. Workit affiliated providers are compassionate, kind, and dedicated to helping people make positive change.

5) After your first visit, if clinically appropriate, the clinician will e-prescribe medication to your local pharmacy.

6) Receive ongoing support through recovery groups, learn new coping tools with our interactive curriculum, and message your care team if questions come up.

6) It’s that easy!

You will meet with a Workit afilliated clinician directly through the Workit Health web or phone app. Log in to your account at your scheduled appointment time, and choose to join your provider’s meeting room. Our in-app video conferencing is HIPAA-compliant and totally secure.

Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) is indicated for the treatment of opioid dependence in adults. Suboxone should not be taken by individuals who have been shown to be hypersensitive to buprenorphine or naloxone as serious adverse reactions, including anaphylactic shock, have been reported. Taking Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) with other opioid medicines, benzodiazepines, alcohol, or other central nervous system depressants can cause breathing problems that can lead to coma and death. Other side effects may include headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, insomnia, pain, increased sweating, sleepiness, dizziness, coordination problems, physical dependence or abuse, and liver problems. For more information about Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) see Suboxone.com, the full Prescribing Information, and Medication Guide, or talk to your healthcare provider. You are encouraged to report negative side effects of drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088.
