Most of the time, I appreciate the seasonal changes. But I also can’t ignore the fact that the weather impacts my mood greatly. The dark, gloomy days, especially during the winters, often leave me feeling down and irritated. Spring is often the worst, as we get tastes of amazing weather, usually followed by another dumping of snow. The shift of fall into winter is also hard, as the days get shorter and darker.
Going through opiate withdrawal is rough. With many drugs, choosing to quit is the hard part. With opiates, choosing to quit is the first part of a difficult, but life-changing decision.
To date in early addiction recovery, or not to date? That is the question.
Recovery is a choose-your-own adventure novel. Each choice leads me further away from (or closer towards) a drink or drug. That doesn’t mean my choices need to look like anyone else’s.
