But the fight to de-stigmatize drug use and addiction is far from over. Change also begins in the hearts and minds of regular people. One way to help bring that about comes in the fairly simple format of changing the way we talk about addiction.
It is time to break the silent voices of those affected by addiction and incarceration, because we are so much more than the stigma we face. We are advocates, parents, siblings, significant others, and friends. More than that we are human, and because of this, we are worthy of ending the stigma.
