A different kind of recovery group

Convenient

You don't have to commute to get to these meetings. Workit Health recovery groups are online, so you can connect from anywhere with wifi. Groups meet throughout the week, so choose a day and time that works for you.

No participation pressure

Participate as much or as little as you choose. Turn your camera on or keep it off. Share your story, milestones, and concerns, or tune in to listen. You choose how much you participate.

A collage of 2 images: a middle-aged dark-skinned man and a young Asian woman, both laughing.

Nonjudgmental

Mutual support groups can sometimes feel judgy about the ways we used substances. No matter what or how you used, Workit Health groups are places you can feel safe and find other who understand.

Identify or not

For some of us, labels like "addict" and "alcoholic" are helpful and freeing. For others, they feel painful and stigmatizing. At Workit Health, you never have to identify by a label to be part of the group.

Find a group that feels right

Support groups

Support groups are hosted by coaches and staff who understand recovery. These groups give you an opportunity to build relationships with other people who are on similar recovery paths. Find the support you need and discover the strength that comes from being in community with others.

Therapist-moderated groups

Therapist-moderated groups are hosted by licensed counselors who really care. They use evidence-based strategies drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to help you learn new coping tools so you can build lasting life changes.

Questions?

We get it—groups can be scary. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions, so you know what you are getting into.

How do I enroll in a group?

As a member, log into the Workit Health app on your phone and go to your Dashboard (the house icon in the bottom left). Click on the Community tab, and you will see the groups available. You can self-enroll in as many groups as you like.

Will there be non-members in my group?

Privacy is a major concern for many Workit members, so we restrict participation in groups to members only. To ensure this, members must use the email address associated with their Workit profile when logging into a group meeting in order to be admitted.

How long do meetings last?

The length of meetings varies, but most are 30 minutes to an hour.

Will I be penalized if I miss a group meeting?

Group participation is encouraged but not enforced. If you miss a meeting for a group you’ve enrolled in, we may follow up with you, but there won’t be any penalties or punishments.

What are the different kinds of groups available?

There are a wide range of groups, oriented around many different focuses. Some of these include:

  • Topics like grief, anger management, parenting, spirituality, and stress
  • Tools like meditation, movement, and wellness skills
  • Identities like gender, age, ethnicity, and sexuality
  • Stages of recovery like early recovery or tapering off buprenorphine

Can I switch groups?

Yes, you can unenroll from a group and enroll in another at any time. It’s okay to try out several groups to find the ones where you feel most connected and supported.

Group guides help meetings stay on track

Each Workit recovery group is hosted by a counselor, coach, or peer in recovery to help the group to be productive, without taking over the discussion.

  • Guided groups provide structure while allowing everyone a chance to contribute.
  • Groups offer a nonjudgmental place for members to express thoughts, process emotions, and work through reactions to situations.
  • Therapist-moderated groups can help members create and stay accountable for SMART goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
  • Support groups offer hope through the power of example, as the group host and members share their own experiences.
A smartphone displays recovery group options in the Workit Health app. Images of other group options float around the phone, symbolizing variety.

Read more about Suboxone risks and concerns

Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) is indicated for the treatment of opioid dependence in adults. Suboxone should not be taken by individuals who have been shown to be hypersensitive to buprenorphine or naloxone as serious adverse reactions, including anaphylactic shock, have been reported. Taking Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) with other opioid medicines, benzodiazepines, alcohol, or other central nervous system depressants can cause breathing problems that can lead to coma and death. Other side effects may include headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, insomnia, pain, increased sweating, sleepiness, dizziness, coordination problems, physical dependence or abuse, and liver problems. For more information about Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) see Suboxone.com, the full Prescribing Information, and Medication Guide, or talk to your healthcare provider. You are encouraged to report negative side effects of drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088.
